A Family History of Union Advocacy

A Springfield attorney supporting organized labor and all workers' rights

Attorney John V. Boshardy carries on a family tradition of support and advocacy for workers. Three generations of Boshardys have fought for the rights of union members in Springfield and throughout Illinois.

  • His grandfather Joe Boshardy worked in the rail yards of Bloomington, Illinois in the 1920s and helped to unionize railroad workers. He remained a staunch advocate for the rights of workers to bargain collectively for better wages and benefits throughout his life in Chicago.
  • His father Andrew Boshardy carried on the proud tradition of union involvement, working for 32 years as a member of the Chicago and Northeast District Council of Carpenters for Gateway Concrete Forming Systems in Chicago, Illinois.

John Boshardy understands the benefits that he and has family received from their association with the trades. As increasing numbers of workers struggle to make ends meet, see their jobs sent overseas, and are denied basic health and pension benefits, John further appreciates the tremendous advantages that he was given as the child of a union member. He strives to honor his family's union background though his legal work on behalf of many union members.
